You Are Invited to the 7th International PSPRS Conference in Krakow

I am pleased to invite you to take part in the 7th International Conference of the Polish Society for the Psychology of Religion and Spirituality (PSPRS), which will take place in Krakow, Poland, on September 24–26, 2026. I will be serving as the Conference Secretary, and together with the organizing team, we are very much looking forward to welcoming scholars and practitioners from around the world.

Spirituality and/or Religiousness – A Remedy for Existential Emptiness and Health or a Modern Excess?

This year’s conference will focus on the complex and often ambivalent role of spirituality and religiousness in contemporary life. We will explore whether spirituality and religion function as sources of meaning, resilience, and health—or whether they are increasingly perceived as excessive, contested, or transformed phenomena in the realities of the 21st century.

The conference aims to create a space for interdisciplinary dialogue, bringing together perspectives from psychology, psychiatry, public health, cross-cultural and indigenous psychology, as well as related disciplines. Special attention will be given to spiritual and religious responses to trauma, existential challenges, and global crises, and to their implications for mental health and well-being.

Call for Abstracts – Deadline: March 15, 2026

We warmly invite researchers, clinicians, and practitioners to submit their abstracts by March 15, 2026, and to join us in Krakow for three days of intensive academic exchange.

Both on-site and online participation will be possible. The program will include:

  • keynote lectures,
  • parallel thematic sessions (15-minute presentations followed by discussion),
  • poster and e-poster sessions,
  • symposia, panel discussions, and workshops.

The primary language of the conference will be English, with a dedicated block of sessions conducted in Polish.

Keynote Speakers

We are honored to welcome three distinguished keynote speakers:

  • Prof. Doug Oman (University of California, Berkeley, USA)
  • Prof. Vassilis Saroglou (UCL – University of Louvain, Belgium)
  • Prof. Stefania Palmisano (University of Turin, Italy)

Their work spans psychology of religion, spirituality and health, prosociality, and contemporary religious transformations.

Thematic Areas

Proposed thematic areas include (but are not limited to):

  • religion and spirituality in social and cultural contexts,
  • religion, spirituality, and mental health,
  • psychology of spirituality, mindfulness, and gratitude,
  • spirituality in times of crisis and uncertainty,
  • multiculturalism, migration, and religion,
  • religious fundamentalism, prejudice, and intergroup relations,
  • religion and spirituality in psychotherapy,
  • new forms of contemporary spirituality,
  • religious education,
  • the brain and behavior in spiritual contexts,
  • religion and spirituality in the workplace.

Publication Opportunity

Participants presenting at the conference will have the opportunity to submit their manuscripts to an English-language conference monograph, with no publication fees.
